The Ohio Small Business Development Center provides services to assist small businesses. Through the SBDC, you can gain the assistance you need to move through all stages of business development. We help people start, sustain and grow their businesses.

Meet Our Team

Our center is  staffed with highly-trained, Certified Business Advisors® (CBA) and consultants to help small businesses and entrepreneurs develop their ideas and grow their businesses.

Lori Baukus, Manufacturing
Lori specializes in helping companies with innovation and new product development, planning and strategy for growth, as well as Lean and business process improvements.  She has over 20 years of new product development, manufacturing, and innovation experience.  She has worked in the Consumer Product, Personal Care, Chemical, Industrial Construction and Commercial industries for companies like Rubbermaid, Reckitt & Colman, GOJO Industries, Inc., and Henkel Consumer Adhesives.  Most recently, Lori is translating this experience to focus on helping with technology adoption and workforce for Advanced Manufacturing in Ohio through her work leading the Ohio Manufacturer’s Association Automation & Robotics Task Force.

Suzie Dills, Financial Management
Suzie is the President and Owner of SD Consulting Services, specializing in financial and non-profit consulting. As a counselor at The Small Business Development Center at Lorain County Community College, Suzie has provided financial management counseling for small business owners and start-up ventures. Suzie specializes in accounting/recordkeeping systems, cash flow analysis and projections.

Amy Hodous, Human Resources
Amy Hodous possesses a diverse background of human resources experience in roles varying from HR Generalist to HR Director. Currently, Amy works as an HR Consultant and enjoys assisting businesses in reaching their potential through their people. Her more than 15 years of HR experience includes organizational design, recruiting, training, performance management, benefits and 401(k), payroll, policies and compliance, employee relations, coaching, employee engagement, acquisitions, restructuring, change management, communications, and project management. Amy has worked in a wide variety of industries including technology, professional services, healthcare, non-profit, manufacturing, and the arts.

Erica Larson, Branding
Pixel Power Owner and Creative Director, Erica Larson, has helped sustainability-oriented organizations get more brand recognition by providing website design and content marketing since 2006. At Pixel Power, Erica heads project development and serves as Creative Director for website builds, social media and content marketing, and graphic design projects. With a passion for environment and corporate social responsibility, Erica has found a love for providing marketing support to organizations who focus on sustainable business practices. She states “Our best partnerships are with clients who recognize the importance of and relationship between social equity, a thriving natural environment, and a strong economy."

Carol Palichleb, Website
Carol began her career in the mid-1980s as a graphic designer/art director at an award-winning Northeast Ohio advertising agency. By 1989, she established what is now Palicor Communications serving major manufacturers of polymer products, paper products, and more. Carol has been designing websites since the first graphic browsers were created. Her passion lies in helping small businesses understand the web and how to market their products or services in the ever-changing digital space.

Lindsay Sims, Social Media
Lindsay Sims is a certified digital marketing trainer. Her award winning business, Predictable Results Marketing, helps small business owners and freelance marketers get predictable and repeatable results from their digital marketing efforts. She's been teaching, coaching and consulting with the LCCC SBDC for several years and she loves being able to give back to her community through her work at the college. 

Tim Skaryd, Food Products
Tim Skaryd is the president of Hospitality Sales & Marketing, LLC and Forefront Foods, LLC. He has spent 25 years in the food industry, working in restaurants, food manufacturing, and food sales. Tim has helped launch over 500 companies and 1800 products to the retail and foodservice markets with products being sold as far away as the United Kingdom, Japan, and the Philippines. Tim’s expertise includes product development, marketing, and FDA disclosures. Most recently, he has helped develop local programs in both Target and Kroger.
